La Torre de les Maçanes is a small inland village in the Alicante region located between the districts of Xixona, Alcoi, Benifallim, Penàguila and Relleu in the Alacantí region.
This community originally grew up around the Moorish castle, an ancient 12th century Almohad tower at the highest part of the town, now known as the Casa Alta. The tower gave the village its name and has become its symbol.
There are a large number of farmhouses and estates in the surrounding area, the vestiges of an agricultural society with a rich historical and cultural value.
The essence of the village is the small businesses that still offer their classic products: the butchers where they will regale us with their homemade chorizos and cured meats, the bakery with its delicious traditional breads and the local cuisine served at the various restaurants.
La Torre de les Maçanes is an ideal starting point or stop off for a day’s hiking or a cycling trip with abundant shade and forest on route.
