Located on the Mediterranean coast of the province of Alicante, Jávea is a charming town that combines natural beauty with a rich cultural heritage. Surrounded by the majestic Montgó Natural Park, this town is a true paradise for nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts.
The Montgó Natural Park, located in the province of Alicante, near Jávea, is a protected area that stands out not only for its breathtaking scenic beauty, but also for being one of the most biodiverse places in Europe. This majestic mountain, with its imposing form rising more than 753 meters above sea level, is configured as a true haven of life, hosting an amazing variety of flora and fauna and offers stunning panoramic views of the sea and the coast, as well as a unique biodiversity that includes a variety of native flora and fauna.
The Montgó is characterized by its rugged landscape, with steep rocks and cliffs offering spectacular views of the Mediterranean. Its unique microclimate and the diversity of habitats present, from pine forests to scrub areas and rocky terrain, are home to numerous species. Among the most outstanding are orchids, aromatic plants and a rich bird community, including raptors, as well as small mammal and reptile species.
One of the peculiarities of this park is its ecological value. The mountain is not only a refuge for wildlife, but also a natural laboratory where different ecosystems can be studied. In addition, Montgó is home to several endemic and endangered species, which positions it as a biodiversity hotspot in Europe.
The trails that run through the park allow visitors to immerse themselves in this natural environment, enjoying the flora and fauna that inhabit it. Hiking, biking and bird watching are just some of the activities that invite you to explore this unique place. Each season offers a different spectacle: in spring, the Montgó is tinged with colors with the flowering of numerous species, while in autumn, the view is filled with warm tones that create a magical landscape.
The Montgó Natural Park is a clear example of the natural wealth that can be found in Europe and a reminder of the importance of conserving our natural spaces. Its biodiversity makes it an ideal destination for nature lovers, researchers and all those who wish to enjoy an incomparable natural spectacle. Visiting Montgó is not only a visual experience, but also an opportunity to connect with nature and understand the importance of preserving these precious environments.
Jávea's economy has traditionally been linked to agriculture and fishing, but in recent years it has seen a growth in sustainable tourism, where trades such as beekeeping have taken center stage. The company Miel Montgó, located in this beautiful region, is dedicated to the production of high quality honey, taking advantage of the wild flowers and vegetation of the park. This approach not only promotes the local economy, but also respects the environment and encourages sustainable practices.
Jávea's gastronomy is another of its great attractions. With a rich culinary tradition that includes dishes such as “arròs a banda” and “tombet”, visitors can enjoy authentic flavors that reflect the Mediterranean culture.
Miel Montgó is a project with a clear concept of beekeeping: pampering our bees to produce a differentiated and unique natural honey. The hives are located in the old farmlands of the Monastery of the Order of St. Jerome, in the Natural Park of Montgó, surrounded by 3/4 of the Mediterranean Sea, with a very special flowering full of endemic species.
These experiences seek to offer unique activities that connect visitors with the nature and culture of Jávea. Through beekeeping and hiking experiences, participants will not only learn about the importance of bees in the ecosystem, but will also explore some of the stunning landscapes of the Montgó Natural Park. These experiences are designed to be sustainable and environmentally friendly, promoting the social economy, since the products offered at our tastings are products from local companies, such as artisan bread made especially for our visitors.
We invite everyone to discover the magic of beekeeping in Miel Montgó, Jávea and Montgó Natural Park.
