Torremanzanas is one of the few villages where they still maintain the original wood ovens and the bakers continue to make bread in the traditional manner. 

The traditional businesses not only sustain the social economy of the village, but also are essential for community life. The locals tend to meet in the queue at the local shops to share news and gossip as well as discussing all sorts of cultural and social initiatives.  

In Torremanzanas, this will generally happen in the Plaza Mayor where most of the traditional businesses are located.

We will meet directly in the Plaza Mayor and visit the wood ovens at the bakery where they will explain the difference between mass-produced and genuine traditional bread.   

Afterwards we will visit the butchers where they make their own sausages and meat products, they will explain the particular character of the local Torremanzanas specialities, the traditional recipes and how they are prepared.  

After a walk through the old town streets, we will arrive at the threshing machines where they will talk us through the process of seperating the grain, the bran, and the tools they used. 

We will have lunch at the Restaurante where will get to taste the local cuisine that we have learned about during the morning: with meats, bread, pericana and excellent oil from Almàssera de Torremanzanas, all still prepared in the traditional way.  

We will end the day with a visit to the oil press to learn a little more about the regional olive varieties and their characteristics.
