Did you know that the elm is the tree of the villages? The elm tree has always been the tree that has been planted in the town square and has always been the centre of all the town's activities.
Speaking of monumental trees, ancient olive trees abound throughout the Seta Valley, we will discover them and take the opportunity to visit the village olive mill where we will be shown the whole process of olive processing from the time it arrives from the field until it is packaged, and near Millena, in Gorga, we will find the Celler de Gurgu. This winery stands out for its care in the production of traditional wines, with the recovery of native vines that have almost disappeared and their fermentation in earthenware jars, just as the Romans did. Also for the excellence of its wine: gold and bronze medal (2015, 2016) in the edition of the Challenge International du Vin in Bordeaux - France.
We will finish the trilogy with bread. We will visit Montse's bakery, in Gorga, where they will explain the peculiarities of the Coca de Sant Blai, a sweet that is traditionally only prepared on the day of San Blas.we will finally walk through the streets of Balones where we will learn about its history and the origin of its inhabitants and we will finish eating at the Restaurant Racó de Seta some dishes paired with oils of local varieties.
We will start the route in the square of Millena, in the shade of its impressive millenary elm tree. We will walk through the town centre and arrive at the Millena olive mill to see the whole process of olive treatment from the arrival of the olives from the field, the weighing, the cleaning and the whole process of elaboration: milling, decantation, centrifugation, filtering and finally, bottling.
Afterwards, we will move to Gorga to visit the vineyards of Celler de Gurgu where we will also be explained the whole process of winemaking and we will have the opportunity to taste their excellent wines: Gurgu Jove de Trellat, awarded several times in the Challenge International du Vin in Bordeaux-France. And Gurgu Avant-passats, a wine made with the recovered Giró variety and aged in earthenware jars more than 100 years old.
We will stroll through the streets of Gorga, to reach the Forn de pa de Montse. There we will be able to taste some of their sweets and they will also explain how they make the coca de Sant Blai, a sweet that is traditionally only produced on the day of San Blas.
Afterwards, we will head towards Balones where we will visit the town centre and the church and where we will be told about the origin of the village and its inhabitants.
We will stop at the Town Hall to see an audiovisual presentation of the different varieties of olives, the oils obtained and their characteristics and uses. We will finish this trilogy at the Racó de Seta Restaurant where we will have a tasting with the oils of the local varieties and tapas with a pairing of the oils.
